  • Decapitate- (Verb) to cut of someone's head; The guards decapitated the man's head.
  • Brazen- (Adj)) sounding harsh and loud; The maid was very brazen when she was talking to Lily.
  • Wrench- (Verb) to move with a violent twist; I wrenched the jacket of of her hands.
  • Pious- (Adj) showing loyal reference for a person or thing, worthy; many of the people were pious to their teacher.

  • Exalt: v. (pg. 107) to raise high; elevate. He exalted himself from lowly employee to CEO.
  • Deliverance: n. (pg. 107) redemption. We were trapped in the cave until deliverance came in the form of some other spelunkers.
  • Consolation: n. (pg. 108) the act of being comforted. In the form of a box of doughnuts, Dave brought me consolation when I was sad.
  • Waterlogged: adj. (pg. 108) so filled or flooded with water as to be heavy or unmanageable. My jacket was so waterlogged that when I lifted it up, it was twice its former weight.
  • Solace: n. (pg. 109) comfort in sorrow, misfortune, or trouble; alleviation of distress or discomfort. I found solace in the doughnuts from Dave.
  • Partial: adj. (pg. 113) Having a particular liking or fondness for something or someone. I was partial to the chocolate cake rather than the vanilla one.

  1. Incesscently v. (pg. 120) continuing or following without intteruption. He had patches of honey on his shirt, which were attracting a horde of flies and causing him to swat incessantly. Synonym- continuously. The boy continuously stepped in mud.
  2. Sheerest adj. (pg. 126) bright. The sheerest smile brushed his lips, and heat rushed up my body. Synonym-flimsy. The flimsy paper ripped when I pulled it.
  3. Lust n. (pg. 128) pleasure. In one short morning I had exhibited insane laughter, hidden lust, pissy behavior, self pity, and hysterical crying. Synonym-desire. Emily had a desire for the candy that was on the table.
  4. Decidous adj. (page 127) falling off or shed seasonally or at a certain stage of development in the life cycle."She is only a world famous writer who wrote three Pulitzer Prize books about the deciduous trees of South Carolina."
